BBC Bias?
On Monday, Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre gave a speech where he ranted about the “cultural Marxism” of the BBC. He was, of course, pretty much completely wrong. And today we have a well-written piece by Lance Price pointing out many of Dacre’s errors. And as a bonus, he does it by having a little… Continue reading BBC Bias?

I’ve just put Planet Doctor Who live. It aggregates stuff that it can find about Doctor Who (and Torchwood). If you can recommend good RSS feeds that it should include, then please let me know. Obviously it has web feeds. Choose from RSS or Atom. Oh, and there’s also an OPML file.

Planet Earth
Writing in yesterday’s Times, A A Gill put his finger on a problem that has been bothering me about the BBC’s latest wildlife extravaganza – Planet Earth. For a science programme, it has very little science in it. The factual content is now virtually nil, just scene-setting and needless telling you what you’re seeing. There… Continue reading Planet Earth
Torchwood – Cyberwoman
I thought that last week’s episode of Torchwood was a bit better than the first two, but with this week’s episode, Cyberwoman, the quality plunged again. The pitch probably went something like this: “We’ll have an attractive young woman wandering around with Cyberman technology covering as little of her body as we can get away… Continue reading Torchwood – Cyberwoman
Daily Mail Outrage
I do love a nice bit of Daily Mail outrage. And this one is too good to miss. They’ve got all over-excited about Monday’s episode of Spooks which featured a group of christian extremists who were killing muslims. Given the number of episodes where MI5 have been foiling Muslim plots, this one seemed to be… Continue reading Daily Mail Outrage
Speak Your Brains
Following on from the release of the Stern report, the BBC are running a “Speak Your Brains” discussion on climate change. It makes very depressing reading. The majority of correspondents either deny that climate change is a problem or object to the government’s green tax proposals. I’m fast coming to the conclusion that the Earth… Continue reading Speak Your Brains
