The BBC is reporting that the Safety Elephant has lost the Home Secretary job in today’s Cabinet reshuffle. John Reid will replace him.

… but the replacement’s John Reid. I’m not holding my breath for any real change in direction there.
“He [the Safety Elephant] said he did not agree with the prime minister’s judgement in sacking him”That’s odd, given that it’s only a week or so since Clarke claimed to have offered his resignation to the Prime Minister (who declined it). Does that mean that Clarke didn’t agree with his own judgement when offering to resign?
