Express on the Budget

This pretty much sums up the difference in opinions between sane people and the people who read papers like the Express and the Mail. Express readers would rather have more money in their pocket than having it wasted on things like education and healthcare.

Oh, and by the way. Where can you buy nuclear weapons for only 30p? Sounds a bit cheap to me.

  1. Well spotted about those cut-price nuclear weapons. I’ve been paying at least a quid a time for my own arsenal.Although the Express is a terrible rag, the headline is clearly arguing that the money is being spent without results being achieved, and it seems that this lack of results is what they object to.This government seems to think that money alone will get the job done, and the facts show that this just isn’t the case. (See Vodafone’s failed internet portal Vizzavi etc for more proof that this isn’t true!)

  2. I agree with the headline 100%.I guess i’m insane to think I am capable of spending my own money more efficiently than a bloated corrupt bureaucracy.

  3. Well, there are different ways to spin it, obviously :)I’d say that you were insane to think that whatever you wanted to spend those few quid on is more important than investing in the country’s infrastructure.

  4. Holy shit, Sharon Stone has twenty three million nukular bombs ! Now *that’s* a Real Value (if I decipher the headlines correctly.)

  5. You’d probably be right if you could guarantee that the extra money being spent would lead to improved results, but I just don’t think that’s the case.

  6. If the government limited its spending to infrastructure I might be more sympathetic. What I think of when I see government is wealth re-distribution on a grand scale. Theft from the person actually doing the work and giving it to those who don’t.
