The Results Must Get Through

On election night, Guardian Unlimited will, of course, have all of the results on the site as they are announced. Something as important as this obviously requires people to be here overnight ensuring that everything goes smoothly. And it seems that I’m going to be one of this crack technical team.

I’m looking forward to it. I’d be staying up all night to watch the election anyway, so I might as well get paid for it. Hopefully it’ll all go really smoothly on the night and I can spend the night with my feet up watching Peter Snow.

  1. So, no All Back To Dave’s this year then?

To be honest, I can’t be bothered staying up this year. Especially as I’m flying out the next day. It’s not like I’m going to vote on thursday[1], so I’ll probably ignore the whole thing.

What I want is some sort of SMS system. So I get an SMS when a party has won. And I get an SMS telling me the result of Islington South (so I can find out who my MP is.) And I wouldn’t mind to pay a little (25p or so.) Google can’t find me anyone who will do it. Bah, so much for commercialism.

[1] Been there, done that. Wasn’t sure I’d be in the country on the 5th, so I postal voted.

  2. If everything is ready (which it should be) then I’ll see if I can take an hour off before the polls close and get down to the meeting. I’ve been too ill to get to london.pm meetings for a few months, so it would be good to make the effort. But if I don’t make it, I’ll just have to hope that you have a good enough time to make you want to come along again in June :)
