Fahrenheit 9/11 Opens in US

It looks like the “Move America Forward” people weren’t very successful in their campaign to keep theatres from showing Fahrenheit 9/11.

The film opened in the US on Friday and weekend estimates show it as number one at the box office over the last few days. It has currently made $21,958,000 and is the first documentary to ever top the weekend ratings. That $22m was made in 868 theatres. Other films that it has beaten were in over 2,500 theatres.

This film is going to be huge.

  1. It is unlikely to have this huge political impact that people expect in my opinion.Simply put, the VAST majority of people who go to see this film would have been pre-disposed to vote for Cary in the first place.Saying that, with the election looking as close as it is, maybe a small shift is all that is needed.I’m glad i’m not a citizen, I couldn’t vote for either of them with a clear conscience.

  2. I don’t think the film is targeted at people who have already decided who they will vote for. I think it’s targeted at abstentionists. This can make quite a large difference.
