The people at CAP Alert have a bit of a problem with The Passion of the Christ. On one hand it’s exactly the the sort of film that they would like people to go and see. On the other hand, it’s such a violent film that it scores really badly on their “Wanton Violence/Crime” scale. So badly in fact that it has got a red light on their “should you see this film” traffic light.
Good job I always ignore their advice then as I’m planning to go and see it next week.
You shouldn’t ignore them. In my experience, the more that they dislike a film the more likely I am to like it. I note that they particularly dislike Dawn Of The Dead, which, as it has zombies in it, is guaranteed to be a great film.
http://www.capalert.com/capreports/passionofthechrist.htmYou need the direct there. Sloppy. :)
Maybe CAP Alert disapprove, but they deserve credit for consistency. Contrast that with the authors of the Left Behind series. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,1183361,00.html) These people (see last para of article) are suddenly condoning the violence in the film on the grounds that children are “used to violence. Good grief, television and the internet abound with it. […] This is purposeful violence.”On the one hand this is utterly maddening. On the other, I don’t really care.
