Every day as I walk to work I go past a telescope shop. When I was younger I was fascinated by astronomy, so this brings back many memories.
It’s almost tempting to buy a huge telescope but, of course, one of the few disadvantages of living in London is the complete lack of anything resembling a night sky – so it would be a bit of a waste of money.
…and it is one of the advantages of living in the backend of beyond that there are no street lights close, nor light pollution of any kind. And these cold nights are great, even though I only have a baby ‘scope.Of course, that is the *only* advantage to living way out there. Apart from the cheap house prices. So, apart from the cheap house prices, and the lack of light pollution etcetcetc.
I know the feeling. I’m a big fan of cosmology and astronomy (just as a hobby) but I live in NYC and have the dilemma; I can’t really see the night sky too well. I’d love to get a telescope (I can only dream) but it seems a bit pointless living in the city.
