I’ve been contemplating an upgrade, but have been scared off by horror stories. Was it difficult?
Having been lightly burnt slightly by a couple of previous MT upgrades, I was very cautious. But it seems that Six Apart have been doing a lot of work in this area. The upgrades were completely painless. Most of the upgrades I did were from MT 3.2 and I expect that it will get scarier the further back you go.There’s one thing to be aware of tho’. The upgrade retains all of your existing templates. But the newer default templates are designed to work with the Stylecatcher plugin (which makes it easier to change the style of your blog). So on Battersea MP I backed up the templates and then restored a complete set of the version 3.33 default templates. I then spent some time adding back some of the customisations that I’d made to the templates.I’m so happy with the results, that I’m considering doing something similar to this blog.
