Pink Floyd were (and are) one of my favourite bands. I discovered them with “The Wall”, and hunted down the complete back catalog, as you do. There are a lot of high quality albums, but pre 1973 things are a bit sketchy.When I got to “Relics” and “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn” I was very disappointed. This wasn’t my Pink Floyd at all.I don’t like the quirky songs he wrote. I don’t think the things I actually do like on this early Floyd were anything much to do with him.I’d like to thank him for leaving the band when he did though (well, he was pushed), so that Gilmour could come aboard. Perhaps his early influence really did shape the other members into the world striding colossos they became.
