Of course I don’t expect PC World staff to be able to answer any of my questions about the Linux compatibility of the products they sell. I just ask them as a bit of sport and in the vain hope that they might be reporting back to head office about the level of interest that Linux gets.
However I was very surprised this lunchtime to find someone who had never heard of Linux. Is it really possible to be interested enough in computers to work in a computer shop and to have never even heard of Linux. Apparently it is.
You’re assuming that people who work at PC World are “interested in computers” in the same way that most of the geeks you know are. In my experience they’re usually after a slightly more respectable and slightly better paid job than Tescos.
now, this is strange, i thought i would c how ppl talk about pcw staff, its funny because 5 employees where i work go t uni, but only work there t get through uni, then others like me just get a job bcause they know things, its rare t find ppl in pc world who can answer a v technical question, without resortin t askin some1 else, but there are some like me who r software developers, built comps half there life, nos about linux (alot of the distros’s), mac, windows, we just arent sad enough t post it randomly on a blog unless prompted, i found this funny, thanx!
