Interesting piece by Roy Greenslade in The Guardian today. It discusses how The Sun was very quick to condemn the BNP as racists last week (following the BBC documentary) although much its editorial is thinly diguised racism.
The Media Guardian site requires registration – which gives me a good excuse to plug Bug Me Not.
You outlaw speech and the speech goes underground where it can’t be addressed. Is it any wonder that the BNP are doing so well. It must be the truth if the government won’t LET you say it.Censorship lends credence to opinions.
why shouldnt they be racist?foreigners are shit.
Ur a mother fucker BITCHHHHH Ur FACE IS BULL SHIT AND I AM FROM JAPAN AND I SPEAK CHINESE SO SHUT THHE FUCK UP MOTHER FUCKER
See “hail hitler”, all you’re doing there is reinforcing the stereotype that racists are a bit thick.Firstly, if you read the article it isn’t actually about whether or not the Sun is racist but, rather, about the fact that they clearly _are_ racist but yet think it’s a good idea to condemn the BNP for being racist. The article is pointing out the inconsistancy in their stance.Secondly, thinking that foreigners are “shit” isn’t an example of racism, it’s an example of xenophobia. Don’t forget that many foreigners (like much of the US and Europe) are actually of the same race as the British. It’s important to get the right labels for your bigotry. And it seems that your don’t think _all_ foreigners are shit, as you appear to have some respect for at least one German.Thirdly, the phrase you want is usually given as “heil hilter”, not “hail hitler”.So all in all you haven’t done a very good job in persuading anyone that your point of view is worth listening to.Thanks for playing tho’. And better luck next time.
Actually it can be “Hail”, if you’re speaking in English, which he was, because Heil means Hail in English… Saying “erm it’s not hail, it’s HEIL” in the midst of a conversation held in English is like saying “erm it’s not NAZI it’s nationalsozialistische deutsche arbeiterpartei”.
PS racists ARE a bit thick, because they’re not smart enough to realise that Race is a superficial difference. So to say they’reva bit thick is not reinforcing a stereotype, it’s stating a fact. Culture is what makes a difference, not skin colour
