Save Blair – Vote Labour

Every vote for a Labour candidate in today’s council elections will be interpreted (by the government at least) as a vote in support for Tony Blair, his policies and the way he runs the government.

Blair has been in a lot of trouble over the last couple of weeks. An announcement about his future can surely not be very far away. If you’d like to help him cling to office for as long as possible then you should vote Labour to support him.

If, on the other hand, you would like to do what you can to hasten his departure then you can’t vote Labour. Vote for anyone else[1]. Spoil your paper. But don’t vote Labour.

It’s your choice.

[1] I’m assuming that anyone reading my blog will have the intelligence not to do anything stupid like voting BNP or UKIP.

  1. Dave, I’ve read your blog (well, the front page of it) after Google Blogsearching “labour” / “local elections”, and your overall stance is similar to what I’m reading from a lot of Labour supporters – “TB/JP/CC etc should go now, BUT not Labour itself. Labour is still great, its just that these people are not doing it right”. I’m confused by this. What is it that you expect from Labour, what is it that you think another PM/deputy PM/Home office Minister would, or should, do differently? Is it the whole “New” Labour ideology you dislike? You’d rather have the old style Labour, led by Kinnock or Foot or Callaghan?”Old” Labour was kicked out by the electorate, and Labour would still be unelectable today if Blair had not reinvented it as “New” Labour, and now that too is being revealed as a corrupt, incompetent shambles. I wish someone would show me what “True” Labour is supposed to look like then!I’m not posting this just to have a go at you, and I realise its a big question, I dont expect you to type out a whole manifesto in response. But if you could point me to some links which you feel are descriptive of what, y’know, “real” Labour should be like, I’d be grateful, because I just don’t understand what you Labour supporters are complaining about. I thought this was what you wanted. I’m not talking about last week’s headlines, I’m talking about 9 years of Labour policies. In what ways have Labour let you down, and what did you expect to be done differently?
